Vearthy took a different approach. The handle of our toothbrush is made from durable ABS for long-lasting performance, but features a bamboo wrap for a warm, tactile feel. We are also working on ways to ensure this product lasts longer and is repairable. We're currently figuring out a design to be able to replace the battery, so you can buy this once and drastically cut down on what goes into the landfil.

Plant-Based Brush Heads: A Cleaner Alternative
The biggest plastic culprit in oral care isn’t the handle, it’s the replacement heads used every 3 months. Most are fully petroleum-based nylon and contribute heavily to landfill waste.
Vearthy’s Plant-Based Electric Brush Heads use bristles made from castor seed oil (bio-based nylon 1010), a renewable material derived from the Ricinus communis plant. This reduces reliance on fossil fuels while maintaining the cleaning performance people expect.
Studies show that castor-derived nylon 1010 has mechanical properties, including tensile strength and flexibility comparable to conventional nylon. This makes it suitable for applications that require durability, such as toothbrush bristles.1
Note: while plant-based, the heads are not compostable! Honesty and transparency are key to our mission, and we believe Canadians value this clarity. This is another area we have invested researching in, because although this is an amazing step for now, we know there is potential for an even better option.
